Allan, George Traill
b. 1810(?)
Allan, born in Crieff, county Perth, Scotland, joined the HBC in 1830 as a clerk.
In 1831 he was transferred to the Columbia district where he worked as a clerk until
1842. During the next five years he worked as one of the company's joint agents in
Honolulu. Allan refused the position of HBC chief factor; he resigned in 1849 and
worked as a commission merchant in Oregon until 1861.
