Choquette, Alexandre
According to the despatch, Choquette was an experienced miner who discovered gold along the Stikine River. He originally mined in California but at the time of writing had been mining along
the north coast of British Columbia for two years. Douglas mentions that a short narrative of Choquette can be found in the British Colonist paper on the January 10, 1862.
