Sir,
Having laid before My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty your letter of yesterdays date 1 in which you request that a Commission of Vice Admiral for the Colony of British Columbia may be issued to James Douglas, Esquire, CB, the Governor of the said Colony, and also a Commission of Judge of the Vice Admiralty Court to Matthew Baillie Begbie, Esquire, I am to acquaint you for the information of Secretary Sir E.B. Lytton that My Lords have issued the necessary Warrants for the appointments to be made by letters Patent from the High Court of Admiralty, and the same will remain in the Registry Office of the Court to betakenManuscript image taken up in the usual manner. I am further desired by their Lordships to transmit to you herewith five copies of the Rules and Regulations for Vice Admiralty Courts abroad made and issued in pursuance of the Provisions of the Act 2 Willm 4 Cap 57 [51รก 2 the same being for the use of the Officers of the said Court.
