Moody to Under-Secretary of State
Liverpool
30th Octr 1858
Sir,
I have the honor to state it has been desirable by the War Dt that the purchase of Forage (Oats & a small quantity of Hay) obtained for B. Columbia by Mr Eaton H.M. Storekeeper Tower should be defrayed by me instead of paying through their Accounts as the other Stores will be. I did not contemplate this when I made my last demand.
I think it would facilitate matters if you would sanction the above and move H.M. Treasury to place the sums required—viz
George Kean for Oats 174. 8. 3
S.H. Whitboard for Hay 8.14.10
183. 3. 1 to myManuscript image to my acct at Messrs Cox & Co.
May I request your decision to be sent under cover to Captain Elphinstone R.E. 4 New Street Spring Gardens.
I have the honour to be Sir
Yr most obedt humble Sert
R.C. Moody
Col. R.E.
