Mr Merivale
I have observed that some of the recent reports by the Naval Officers of the condition of things in B. Columbia are not quite so cheering as those we get from the Govr. Perhaps the Naval Offrs do not know as much as the Governor does upon the subject. It is well, however, to Manuscript imagereceive other reports than those of the Governor—if, at least, those reports are accurate in their facts.
