Douglas acknowledges receipt of correspondence on the disturbances at Ft Yale and the suspension of Mr Perrier, and that he has passed on the government's approval to Moody, for Moody's plan to send a party of Royal Marines and Royal Engineers to Fort Hope. Finally, Douglas acknowledges his inaccuracy in designating Colonel Moody the Lieutenant Governor.
I have duly received your Despatches Nos 35 & 36 of the
21st and 22nd March referring to the disturbances at Ft
Yale and the suspension of Mr Perrier.
2. I have communicated toto Colonel Moody your approval of the
course he adopted in proceeding to Fort Hope, with the party of
Royal Marines and Royal Engineers.
3. With reference to your observations respecting the
inaccuracy into which I had fallen, by designating Colonel Moody
the Lieutenant Governor, I will take care that your instructions
uponupon this point shall in future be duly attended to.
