McClure, as directed by the
Mission Board of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland,inquires as to whether
the Government would afford any assistance or encouragement in regard to passage or otherwiseto send
one or more Ministers of their body to the new Colony of British Columbia.

The Mission Board of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland
are desirious of sending one or more Ministers of their body
to the new Colony of British Columbia, North America. They
have directed me, as Governor of the Colonial Mission, to
inquire whether, in case of such appointments being made, the
Government would afford any assistance or encouragement in
regard to passage or otherwise.

Answer that H.M. Govt are without any funds for providing
Clergymen with a free passage, or other assistance to B. Columbia.
