With reference to Mr Elliot's letter of the 24th Ultimo, I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, that They have forwarded to the Paymaster General the life Certificate of Colonel Moody, R.E. Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works in British Columbia, for the Quarter to 30th June last, withinstructionsManuscript image instructions to him to pay to Messrs Cox & Co., as Agents for Colonel Moody, the sum of £300 for his salary for that period.
Their Lordships, at the same time, desire me to state that they will in future forward the Life Certificate, as received from your Department, to the Paymaster General at the time when directions are given for payment of the Salary, by which arrangement all further difficulty will be avoided.
