I beg most respectfully to offer myself as a Candidate for the Vacant office of Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works in British Columbia.
I have received my education at theRoyalManuscript image Royal Military Academy at Woolwich, where it is necessary to pass an examination in all the most essential points appertaining to the office I have the honor to Solicit.
I have been for many years Private Secretary to Mr Seymour and have at different times held the appointment of Police Magistrate, ColonialSecretaryManuscript image Secretary during a most difficult Session and the Dormant Commission of Lt Governor of British Honduras.
For my conduct and capabilities I beg to refer your Grace to Mr Seymour's despatch mentioned in the margin.
