In consequence of the requisition contained in your Despatch of
7th
September No. 34 for Buoys and Moorings for the entrance of
Fraser's
River, I caused enquiries to be instituted as to the probable expense of
complying with your application. I enclose herewith a copy of the
report made to me on the subject

 by the
Crown Agents, by which you will
perceive how great a difference there is between the Estimate of the
               Harbour Master of
British Columbia and that formed in this country. The
expense of the Buoys being so much greater than you have calculated
upon, I have thought it best to order the
Crown Agents to send you half
the number for which you have applied, leaving it to you to decide
whether the remainder shall be supplied or not.

You will be so good as to make arrangements for defraying the cost
of this requisition—the exact amount of which will
be
 be in due time
               communicated to you.
