With reference to previous correspondence I am directed by Lord
Stanley to transmit to you, for the information of the Duke of
Buckingham and Chandos, a copy of a despatch from Her Majesty's
Chargé d'Affaires at Washington, forwarding a copy of a
Resolution which has been presented to the United States Senate,
in regard to the joint occupation of the island of San Juan, by
