I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch
               Separate of the
28th November enclosing a letter from the Attorney
               General of
British Columbia requesting that the opinion of the Law
Officers of the Crown may be obtained as to the effect of the
Act
 Act of
Union upon the Legislative Constitution of the Colony.

Your own views upon the subject and those of the Attorney are so
clearly right, and it is so impossible that the supposed construction
should be so set up as to invalidate the Acts of the Council that it
is neither necessary nor advisable to take the
Law Officers' opinion
upon the point raised in the letter of the Attorney General.
