I think the Governor might now be informed that on the
19
March Lord Granville rec a letter from
M Watson dated
14
Jan last, with its enclosures, from which it appeared that he
had forwarded copies to the
Gov for transmission to the
Secretary
of State. That the
Sec of State had deferred disposing
of
M Watson's letter until the Gov reports should reach him
as it ought to have done some time before this. That this delay
on the part of the
Gov is fortunately of less consequence than
it might have been, as the records of this Office have enabled
Lord Granville to come to the conclusion that
M Watson has no
claim on the Home
Gov, a decision he will make known
to
M Watson explaining to him the cause of delay.
