No. 93
27th July 1870
My Lord,
I regret to report to Your Lordship the death of Mr Chartres Brew who nominally held the appointment of Inspector General of Police, but, in fact laterally discharged the duties of Stipendiary Magistrate and Gold CommissioneratManuscript image at Barkerville, in the District of Cariboo.
2. Mr Brew's appointment was one of those provided for by the Crown Salaries Act; but the Office is unnecessary and I do not propose to fill it up. Mr Ball had by my direction relieved Mr Brew as Magistrate at Cariboo before his death in consequence of his protracted ill-health, and I shall make use of theservicesManuscript image services of Mr Bushby as Magistrate at New Westminster, now that he has been relieved from his former duties as Registrar General by the recent Land Registry Ordinance.
I have the honor to be,
My Lord,
Your most obedient
humble Servant
A. Musgrave
