My Lord,
Referring to Your Lordship's observations upon the Land Registry Act, 1870, made in the concluding paragraphs of Your Despatch No 18, of 5th September, I have the honor to transmit a Copy of a Letter from theAttorneyManuscript image Attorney General enclosing others from Mr Crease, his Official Predecessor, and Mr Alston, the Registrar, upon the subject to which Your Lordship adverts.
2. I think with these gentlemen that it would scarcely be desirable at the present time to reopen the discussion upon the question of Registration.

As the Govr thinks it would be undesirable at the present time to re-open any question upon the Land Registry Bill I should be disposed on this ground not to press the amendment observing, however, that Ld K sees no reason to doubt that compensation clauses should be introduced in a measure of this kind.

I do not think we need at present ask the Land Board to report upon these papers. They were obtained in the belief that they might be of use this session if the Ld Chancellor re-introduced his lapsed Bill of last year on this subject. I think they shd be offered to Mr Thring.
