I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Lordship's
letter of yesterday's date, enclosing, by direction of Sir John
Pakington, copies of two recent Despatches from the Governor of Vancouver's Island, and informing me that the questions respecting Queen
Charlotte's Island had been referred for the consideration of the
Foreign Office and Admiralty; and I request that you will be pleased to
convey to Sir John Pakington the thanks of the Governor and Committee of
the Hudson's Bay Company for his communication.
