This memo, from Barclay to Merivale, asks for an acknowledgment of Barclay’s previous note, then informs Merivale that the said note’s accompanying document—a despatch to Douglas—will be, as requested, forwarded by the next opportunity.

Memo, Barclay to Merivale (Permanent Under-Secretary)

Mr Barclay presents his Compliments to Mr Merivale and begs to acknowledge the receipt of his note of the 11th Instant, and to inform him that the Despatch addressed to Governor Douglas which accompanied it will, agreeably to his request, be forwarded to its destination by the next opportunity.
