Douglas writes to Newcastle to acknowledge the receipt of copies of Blanshard's despatches to the
Colonial Department,and notes that said copies are now in Vancouver Island's government records.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt on the 9th Inst
of your Graces Despatch No 6 of the 9th August last, transmitting
copies of the Despatches addressed by my Predecessor Mr Blanshard to
the Colonial Department, and I now beg to inform your Grace that the
same have been deposited with the records of this Government.
