I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt, on the 16th Inst, of your Circular Despatch of the 11th March last, in reference to an existing misapprehension as to the position of Officers in Her Majesty's Civil Service in the Colonies, who have been suspended from their Office by the Governor, and conveying the instructions of Her Majesty's Government, that such Officers should not absent themselves from the Colony without leave of the Governor, before their ultimate dismissal or re-instatement by Her Majesty the Queen.
