Abstract

Peel writes to Merivale to transmit the Admiralty’s response to Douglas’s earlier report on the steps he took, and expenses incurred, in response to a naval requisition.
The minutes ask that Douglas be informed of the Admiralty's decision to provide reimbursement, upon receipt of correct documentation.
The file encloses a reply from the Admiralty, which advises that the Admiralty will reimburse Douglas for naval expenses, provided that the HBC produces proper vouchers.

Sir,
With reference to your letter of the 15th Ultimo with its enclosure (herewith returned) from the Governor of Vancouver's Island containing a report of the steps he had taken for giving effect to a requisition which he had received from the Commander of Her Majesty's Naval Forces on that Station, I am directed by Lord Panmure to transmit to you, for the information of Secretary Sir William Molesworth, a copy of the answer which has been returned to a reference made to the Department of theLordsManuscript image Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty on this subject.
