I am directed by the Earl of Clarendon to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of the 14th instant, Enclosing a copy of a despatch
from the Governor of Vancouver's Island, reporting the assistance which
he had afforded to Governor Stevens in the Indian war now raging in
American Oregon, and I am to request that you will state to Mr
Secretary Labouchere that the conduct of Governor Douglas appears to
have been most judicious.
I am Sir,
Your Most obedient humble servant
