Memo, Hudson's Bay Company to Merivale

The Secretary of the Hudson's Bay Company begs to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Merivale's letter of the 8th Instant, and to acquaint him that the Bag for Governor Douglas, sent therewith, will be forwarded to Vancouver's Island by the first opportunity. He thinks it right, however, to mention that it is doubtful whether the Hudson's Bay Company will dispatch a vessel to Vancouver's Island before the middle of next year.

Enquire if they can suggest any earlier oppy for sending this Bag to VanCouver's Island. But first ascertain at the Admy if there is any Vessel of War likely to go earlier to the N. Pacific which could carry it.
