With reference to your letter of the 26th ultimo relative to the claim of Governor Douglas on the United States' Government for the repayment of a Sum of Money advanced by him in 1856 to the Authorities of WashingtonTerritory,Manuscript image Territory, I am directed by the Earl of Malmesbury to transmit to you for the information of Secretary Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton, a copy of a despatch from Her Majesty's Minister at Washington reporting the steps he has taken in the Matter of Mr Douglas' claim.
