Sir,
I am directed by the Governor and Committee of the Hudson’s Bay Company to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Merivale’s letter of the 25th Instant transmitting for the information of the Company a copy of a Despatch from H M Minister at Washington relative to the rumoured intention of the Mormons to emigrate to the Company’s Territory.
In expressing the thanks of the Directors of the Hudson’s Bay Company for the communication I am instructed to forward for the information of Lord Stanley the accompanying Extract of a letter bearing upon this subject recentlyManuscript image recently received from Sir George Simpson.
