Shepherd informs the CO of letters the HBC received from Douglas regarding the gold mines on the Fraser River. He does not send extracts but offers them if desired without delay.
The minutes note that the information from Douglas has not arrived and therefore the CO asks for it from the HBC as the period is rather critical.
Enclosed is a draft from the CO to Shepherd asking to be furnished with extracts of the letters from Douglas.
As Governor Douglas mentions his intention of addressing Her
Majesty's Government directly, I do not propose to trouble you
with Extracts, unless I receive a communication expressing your
desire to be furnished with them, in which case I will forward
them without delay.
