I have the honor to forward herewith an Abstract Statement, exhibiting the Receipts and Disbursements of Imperial Funds, on Military and Civil Account in connection with the Island of San Juan &ca between the 1st April and 31st December 1861.

2. The expenditure of the Sum of Two Hundred and three Pounds, Seventeen Shillings, and Six Pence (£203.17.6), was incurred upon the requisition of Rear Admiral Sir Thomas Maitland, the Naval Commander in Chief, for the erection of separate Cells, and for other additions to the Prison at Victoria so that Naval Prisoners should be confined apart from other Prisoners; and the outlay is therefore recoverable from the Admiralty.
