Referring to my Despatch No 76 dated 15th September 1864
transmitting a statement of Mr W. Moore the Captain of the steamer
"Alexandra" trading from this Colony I have now the honor to forward
copies of letters from Mr L.C. Gunn, the Collector of Customs at
Port Townsend together with a newspaper article which more fully

It is a matter very materially affecting the interests of this Colony
and as such I bring it under the notice of Her Majesty's Government.
