Referring to my Despatch N 99 dated
30 November 1864 reporting
               the suspension of
M R. Golledge, I have the honor to inform you
               that I have appointed
Colonel Foster, Stipendiary Magistrate at

Sooke, to perform the duties of Gold Commissioner in connection with
those of the office he now holds,
but
but without any addition of salary.

The duties of both offices can be readily performed by one officer at
this season of the year when mining operations are partially
               suspended.
