With reference to your letter of 18th Ultimo, I am commanded by the Lords Commissoners of Her Majesty's Treasury to transmit to you herewith 6 copies of the Instructions of 1847, to Governors of Colonies for keeping accounts of Colonial Revenue and Expenditure, which have been asked for by the Governor of Vancouver's Island.

I am at the same time desired to transmit to you the enclosed copy of a Report from the Commissioners of Audit, No 283, of 12th Instant, with copy of the Regulations of 1839 and of the Form of Certificate referred to in Articles 302 and 312 of the Colonial Regulations, Edition of 1856, relating to the Custody of Public Moneys in the Colonies, and I am to request that you will move Mr SecretaryCardwellManuscript image Cardwell Cardwell to communicate these several documents to the Governor of Vancouver's Island, together with the Instructions of 1847.
