I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt this day of your Despatches of the numbers and dates noted in the margin.
Originals No. 31, 29 June; unnumbered 30 June 1865 (acknowledging receipt of despatches). Duplicates No. 29, 8 June, and No. 30, 9 June 1865. Confidential 9 June 1865 (without enclosures). Circulars 2, 3 and 10 June (without enclosures), and 15 June 1865.
The last Despatches previously received bymeManuscript image me were those which I acknowledge in my Despatch No 54, dated 8th July 1865.
It appears therefore (referring to my Despatch No 69 of the 19th instant) that both the originals and the duplicates of any Despatches which you may have forwarded to me between the 4th May and the 8th June (including among them Nos 26, 27, and 28) have been lost—that both the originals and the duplicates of any Circular Despatches soforwardedManuscript image forwarded between the 4th May and the 2nd June have also been lost—and that the originals of the duplicate Despatches and Circulars above named in the margin have likewise been lost.
