Nesbitt reports his arrival in England to the Colonial Office and discusses his role in British Columbia and why his position was terminated. Nesbitt submits his case to the Colonial Office for consideration. Jadis’s minute relates Nesbitt’s history of working in British Columbia. Rogers’s minute remarks that Nesbitt’s father is a deserving officer. Bryant’s minute notes Nesbitt’s application.

My Lord Duke,
I have the honor to report to Your Grace my arrival in England from Vancouver's Island.
I doing so I take the opportunity of adding that I held in that Colony the situations of Chief Clerk intheManuscript image the Colonial Secretary's Office and Clerk of the Legislative Council for the space of four years, and that I cease to hold office in consequence of the amalgamation that has recently taken place between Vancouver Island and British Columbia.
I am thus thrown on the world and my own resources not from any fault of my own but in consequence of the imperial measures that haveunitedManuscript image united the two Colonies.
Under these circumstances I submit my case to Your Grace's consideration in the hope that my claims to the patronage of the Crown will be favourably entertained.

Mr Nesbitt held the Offices of Chief Clerk in Van Couver Island with a Salary of £309 and Clerk of the Leg: Council £103. He was appointed in 1863.
