Corry to Merivale (Permanent Under-Secretary)

I am commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of Secretary Sir E. Bulwer Lytton, that directions have been given for the Bishop of Columbia to be conveyed from Panama to Vancouver's Island in one of Her Majesty's Ships, if it can possibly be done without inconvenience to the public service.

But surely the Secy of State does not write himself to colonial bishops in this country? There ought to be some fixed & authorized rule.
