Hawes to Merivale (Permanent Under-Secretary)
I am directed by Mr Secretary Herbert to refer to the
Letters addressed to you on the 2nd March and 7th
June last, reporting a Claim of £12,143.4.0, on account of
Stores &c supplied for Service of the Royal Engineers
proceeding to British Columbia, and to request that you will
move the Secretary of State for the Colonies to cause the
above Amount to be transferred in the Books of the Paymaster
General to the credit of this Department.
