I have the honor to acquaint your Grace that I have authorized the Treasurer to procure by Bills on England in the usual manner, the sum of Two Thousand Pounds (£2000) on account of the ParliamentaryGrantManuscript image Grant for 1863 in aid of expenses incurred by Royal Engineers, and I trust your Grace will be good enough to give the necessary instructions for the Bills presented on this account to be paid when they become due.

The bills advised for Regimental Pay and Colonial allowances of Royal Engineers between 31 Mch 61 and 31 Mch 62 (Governors dates) amounted to £15000.
Those for the same services advised between 31 Mch 62 and 31 Mch 63 amounted to £12000. The despatches which are noted in the margin are annexed.
