Authorize the Agents to comply with the Requisition. Instruct
them, however, to furnish a statement of any amount at present
due to them from the
Gov of
B. Columbia.
When they answer, we can tell the Governer, & give him
some instructions about repayment.
Draft to Agents may be prepared.
M Elliot
In the statement received from the Agents dated the
30 of April the
British Columbia account is said to
be overdrawn to the extent of £48.11.6 but there is a
note to the effect that this overdraught will be adjusted
from the sale of the necessary "amount of Stock." I asked
M
Sargeaunt who was here this morning for an explanation
which he gave but which I did not quite understand. He
says however that the Colony has now become indebted to
the Agents to upwards of £1000.
Perhaps the Governor looks to the liquidation of the
expenses incurred for the Mint [articles?] out of the loan
just recommended.
