I have the honor to enclose for the information of the
Duke
of Newcastle a copy of a letter from the Colonial Secretary
               of
British Columbia stating that His Excellency the Governor
had drawn a Bill on the
Crown Agents at 30 days sight for the
sum of £2,000 in favor of the
Bank of British North America,
on account of the £50,000 Loan of
1863, and I have to request
that you will favor me with the instructions of His Grace as to
the acceptance of the Bill in question. The Balance now standing
to the credit of the Colony is £5,860.
