With reference to your letter of the 18th of September last, and its Enclosure from the Governor of British Columbia, on the subject of the claim upon that Colony for £10704.16s.7d for the cost of the buildings erected for the Corps of Royal Engineers I am desired by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you, for the information of Mr Secretary Cardwell, that Their Lordships are not prepared to consent to any further postponement of the repayment of the sum in question.
My Lords have lately receivedaManuscript image a communication from the Crown Agents reporting that they are prepared to pay this sum, and directions have been given to the Pay Master General to receive it accordingly.
