Sir,
I am directed by Secretary Lieutenant General Peel to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 20th Ultimo forwarding an application for Guns, Ammunition, &c for the Artillery Volunteers of British Columbia and in reply to acquaint you for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies that the present state of the store will notadmitManuscript image admit of the supply of Guns of the nature demanded, but that two 24 Pou[nd] Howitzers with the necessary Side Arms and stores have been ordered to be sent out on loan, on the usual conditions, with two hundred rounds of Ammunition per Howitzer on payment.
The one hundred sets of Artillery Accoutrements demanded will also be supplied.
