In reply to your letter of yesterday's date, I have the honor
to state that the passage to Victoria for myself, wife & servants
costs as follows.

I think that as Governor Seymour has been detained a long time for the good of the public service, but on half pay, we might reasonably ask the Treasury to give him an allowance of £400 towards defraying the expenses of his return to British Columbia with his family.
