Lugard informs the Colonial Office of Pakington’s instructions for the military stores Pakington left in British Columbia. Elliot’s minute instructs Blackwood to draft a reply for Seymour’s information and guidance. The included document is a list of military stores in
British Columbia and why they were allowed to remain in the colony.
Lugard to Under-Secretary of State
I am directed by Secretary Sir John Pakington to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the 2nd January last forwarding
a despatch (No 62) from the Administrator of the Government of
British Columbia on the subject of the Arms, Accoutrements, &c left
in possession of the Government of that Colony by Colonel Moody,
and in reply I am to acquaint youfor
for the information of the Earl
of Carnarvon that under all the Circumstances, Sir John Pakington
has consented to the following arrangement, the details of which
are given in the accompanying list. Viz
All charges on account of the Accoutrements to be remitted.
Full price to be charged for the Ammunition.
Half price to be charged for the Revolver Pistols and Appurtenances.
