My Lord,
At the request of Mr Edward Graham Alston the Registrar General
of this Colony I have the honor to forward a Letter from him to
Your Lordship requestingyour your favorable consideration for
promotion in the Public service.
2. I have already in my Confidential Despatch of 21st January
1870 expressed my opinion in favor of Mr Alston's
character, claims and qualifications.

This despatch may be put by, as Mr Alston has been offered &
has accepted by telegraph the appointment of Queen's Advocate of
Sierra Leone.
