Sir,
With reference to my letter of the 25th ultimo I beg leave to forward to you the following extract from a communication which I have received from the Secretary of the Anglo American Telegraph Company:
Referring to your letter of the 25th ultimo complaining of error"dissatisfaction"Manuscript image "dissatisfaction" for "satisfaction" made in a telegram sent by the Earl of Kimberley, Foreign Office to The Governor, British Columbia on the 10th March last,
February!
I am sorry to find it was made in transmission to America, and beg to assure you that the clerk in fault has been duly cautioned.
Will you please express our regret to the sender and return him the charges.
Under these circumstances the amount paid for the message,viz,Manuscript image viz, twelve pounds, fifteen shillings, and ninepence, has been placed to the Earl of Kimberley's credit in the running account for telegrams sent from the Colonial Office.
