I have to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch of the 10th of November last, and to convey to you my approval of the appointment of Mr Sangster to the Office of Collector of Customs for Van Couvers Island.

I have communicated Extracts from your Despatch relating to the discovery of Coal, to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, and I have called the attention of the Hudson's Bay Company to the necessity of making effectual provision for the Moral and religious instruction of the Inhabitants.
