Thomas Phinn writes to the Colonial Office in response to their request for a ship destined to the Pacific coast of North America. He confirms that the Satellite will be leaving Devonport for North America in two to three weeks.

The minutes avail themselves with the opportunity to send the books to Vancouver Island.

Sir,

With reference to your letter of the 17th Instant, requesting to be informed whether any Vessel of War is likely to be despatched to the North Pacific; I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of Mr Secretary Labouchere, that Her Majestys Steamer Satellite will proceed thither in the course of a fortnight or three weeks, and is now at Devonport.
