Douglas informs Newcastle that as the Imperial Funds in the hands of this Government to liquidate expenses for Colonial Pay &c of Royal Marines at San Juan, being exhausted, I have the honor to acquaint your Grace that I have authorized the Colonial Treasurer to obtain the sum of Eleven Hundred pounds (£1100) by Bills upon Her Majesty's Paymaster General and asks that the bills be accepted and paid upon presentation. Elliot minutes that this expense should be charged to the Admiralty.

The Imperial Funds in the hands of this Government to liquidate expenses for Colonial Pay &c of Royal Marines at San Juan, being exhausted, I have the honor to acquaint your Grace that I have authorized the Colonial TreasurertoManuscript image to obtain the sum of Eleven Hundred pounds (£1100) by Bills upon Her Majesty's Paymaster General, and I trust your Grace will cause the necessary steps to be taken so that the Bills may be accepted upon presentation.

I shd send to Ty, pointing out that these drafts are for Royal Marines at San Juan, & that the S. of State presumes therefore that, under the decisions already adopted, the amount will be chargeable to the Admiralty. Draft.
