Douglas informs Newcastle that he has authorized the Colonial Treasurer to obtain the sum of One Thousand Pounds from Her Majesty's Paymaster General to pay the expenses and salaries of the Royal Marines at San Juan.

The Imperial Funds in the hands of this government to liquidate expenses for Colonial Pay &c of Royal Marines at San Juan being exhausted, I have the honor to acquaint your Grace that I have authorizedtheManuscript image the Colonial Treasurer to obtain the sum of One Thousand Pounds (£1000) on this account by Bills upon Her Majesty's Paymaster General, and I trust your Grace will cause the necessary steps to be taken so that the Bills may be accepted on presentation.
