I have to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 98 dated the
29 of November last enclosing a list of Articles required for the
Assay Office in
British Columbia which the Colonial Treasurer requests may be procured and sent out from this Country.
I have instructed the Colonial Agents to comply with this
Requisition, with the exception of the supply of Coke, at the estimated
cost specified in the letter of which I enclose a copy.
In the present instance I have requested the Lords Commissioners of
the Treasury to defray the cost of these Articles, as an advance to be
repaid from Colonial funds, but on all future occasions on which it may
be desirable to obtain stores for the service of your Government from
this
this country, you will remit to the Agents General the funds requisite
for meeting the expenditure, unless you should have previously sent to
them, which would be preferable, some general remittance sufficient to
meet all current demands of this kind.
