I have the honor to report for the information of the
Duke of Newcastle that under the authority of your letter of
the
14 January last M Seymour, previous to his
departure from this Country, selected furniture for the
Government House of
British Columbia at a total cost of
£1239.11.2,
and and that the
Crown Agents reimbursed him a
further sum of £204.18.10, as authorized by your letter
of the
17 Ultimo for the cost of furniture purchased
by him, for his residence.
Just before his departure
M Seymour enumerated
the remaining articles necessary to complete the furnishing
[of] his Government House, and as his requirements appeared
reasonable (the additional articles consisting
entirely entirely
of bedroom furniture) the
Crown Agents have complied with
them at a further cost of £229.1.0, making a total of £1673.11.0.
