Addington, as directed by Clarendon, writes to Elliot to acknowledge the receipt of Elliot’s earlier letter, which enclosed copies of correspondence received from Douglas on the subject of the
plunder and destructionof the Susan Sturges by a group of Haida at
Queen Charlotte's Island.

I am directed by The Earl of Clarendon to acknowledge the receipt
of your letter of the 23d Instant, enclosing copies of a
correspondence received from the Lieut. Governor of Vancouver's Island
on the subject of the plunder and destruction of the American Vessel
"Susan Sturges" by a party of the Natives of Queen Charlotte's Island,
and I am to request thatyou
