I have the honour to enclose for your information Copy of a letter just received from Governor Douglas, dated Victoria, Vancouver's Island, 4th May 1857, together with Copy of a Report by Mr Joseph Pemberton, Colonial Surveyor, referred to therein, on the subject of Sales of Land in Vancouvers Island, by which you will see that the modification in the terms of payment for land, made under your sanction, appears to have given a stimulus to the demand for Lots of land for agricultural purposes in Vancouver's Island.
